"Graduation Gift Package"

Graduation morning, a father called his son into his study, told him how proud he was of him, and handed him a beautifully wrapped box. Opening the box, the young man saw a lovely leather-bound Bible with his name embossed on it. Angrily, he stormed out of the house, leaving the gift shouting, “With all your money, you give me a Bible?” His hopes had been set on a beautiful sports car he had told his dad that he wanted.

Several years later, he received a telegram that his father had passed away and that his dad had willed all of his possessions to him. Arriving home, he began to search through his father’s important papers. There he saw his unopened Bible, just as he had left it years ago. Tearfully, he opened the Bible to where his father had carefully underlined these words “11: If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” (Matthew 7:11)

As he read those words, a car key dropped onto the floor with a tag on it that bore the car dealer’s name on it who had the sports car he had so earnestly desired. On the tag was also the date of his graduation and the words…PAID IN FULL.

God is at work in our lives all the time. He knows how to give good gifts to His children. Let me encourage you to not miss God’s blessings, especially when they are not packaged like you think they would be.
