"There is a lot to be thankful for."

It is easy to become critical when we become unthankful. R.C. Trench wrote: "When thou hast thanked God for every blessing sent, what time will then remain for murmurs and lament.”
As I think of things to be thankful for, the first that comes to mind is for salvation. None of us deserve heaven. We all deserve hell, but aren’t you glad that Jesus provided salvation for us. It is an awesome gift from God. Paul proclaimed in his writing to the Corinthians in 2nd Corinthians 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
Not only am I thankful for salvation, I am thankful for all the wonderful provisions, the sustenance that the Lord gives. Every day, we are blessed with the things that we need. It is a good gift that comes to us from God. What He provides we should be thankful for. That should be especially true, and we are reminded of the millions that do not have even enough to eat each day.
I am also thankful for a chance to serve. I like how Psalm 100 puts it. “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. 2: Serve the LORD with gladness:” It is a privilege to serve the Lord. I want to serve Him every day with gladness.
Serving reminds me that I am thankful for the strength that He gives me each day to serve Him. Psalm 27:1 says “The Lord is the strength of my life.” He is truly that. Think of the song that says, “I can’t even walk without You holding my hand.”
There is so much to thank the Lord for. I think the Psalmist had it right in Psalm 68:19. “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits.” We are blessed every day, and we should thank and praise the Lord for His goodness and His blessings on us. Be thankful, not critical, and see the blessings of the Lord, and praise His name as He pours out His blessings upon you.
